Acupuncture and TCM

Acupuncture and TCM

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a system of medicine that includes acupuncture, herbology, diet, and lifestyle advice. During its clinical use over the past 3000 years, TCM has developed into a complete medical system that can diagnose, treat and prevent a wide variety of conditions including pain, athletic injury, fertility, pregnancy care and women’s health.

Why try TCM?

The TCM approach to treatment is based on your specific group of signs and symptoms, not your diagnosis. This is why Chinese medicine is unique and demonstrates one of its strengths. For the same reason, one does not need a diagnosis in order to treat symptoms–a relief for patients that are suffering but have been unable to receive a western medicine diagnosis and therefore no successful treatment. Whether you have a new health concern, have been suffering from a chronic disorder and are looking for new treatment options, or are focused on stress management and disease prevention of disease, TCM may be the right fit for you.

About Acupuncture:

According to TCM, the human body and all living things are made up of Qi (pronounced “chee”). Our body is interconnected by a network of pathways, through which Qi and blood flow. When Qi is deficient within the body or becomes stagnated or blocked, this will result in fatigue, pain, illness, and disease. By inserting special needles at specific locations (acupoints) along the affected meridians, acupuncture can rebalance the energetic imbalances and blockages.
Acupuncture is the main TCM modality that Carolyn utilizes in her practice. In addition to Acupuncture, your treatments may also incorporate herbal support and diet, exercise, stress management, and lifestyle recommendations. Treatment plans are customized to the unique needs of each patient and special attention is given to ensure a comfortable and relaxed treatment environment.
