Current success rates in the United States are reported at 20 percent for IVF. Studies have shown that when TCM is combined with IVF, the odds of conception and a healthy pregnancy can increase by up to 50 percent.
Incorporating Acupuncture into your IVF protocol will help increase your IVF’s success rate in the following ways:
An IVF treatment protocol including eight acupuncture sessions leading up to embryo transfer and treatment on the day of the transfer has shown to significantly improve pregnancy results.
Along with diet and lifestyle recommendations, your IVF preparation package will incorporate the IVF acupuncture protocol (mentioned above) as well as address your own unique TCM patterns and imbalances. You’ll want to begin IVF prep 4-6 weeks prior to your estimated date of retrieval.
Please note that specific acupuncture protocols can help enhance other fertility procedures such as IUI, IUI with medication, superovulation, and ICSI. TCM can also help optimize natural fertility cycles and assist in preconception.
Pre-birth treatment involves a series of four weekly acupuncture treatments starting at 36 or 37 weeks to help prepare you for labour.
Acupoints are used to help ripen the cervix, to help position the baby in the best presentation for labour, and to promote stamina for women to enter into labour.
Research demonstrates that pre-birth acupuncture can help shorten labour time, decrease the need for pain medication during labour, reduce medical interventions, and decrease labour and delivery complications.
Carolyn has completed extensive post-graduate training within the field of maternity care and has helped countless women prepare for birth. Pre-birth acupuncture can also safely address breech position and be used as an alternative to a medical induction.
This 90-minute workshop will teach soon-to-be moms and their partners useful acupressure techniques during labour to help manage pain as well as to help support dilation and contraction.
As taught to Carolyn by Debra Betts, the founder of “Acupressure for Labour”, this course is hands-on and encourages partner involvement. A manual will be provided to participants for easy point location and reference.
Acupressure For Labour will be offered monthly and is best attended within the last 5 weeks of pregnancy. Please contact Carolyn for further information and scheduling.
